Inheritance Tax (IHT) is no longer the wealthy tax it was once considered to be. As house prices continue to surge and both the nil rate band and residence nil rate band frozen until 2026, more and more people are unknowingly exposing themselves to IHT bills.

In total, HMRC collected £5.9 billion in IHT receipts for 2021, which was an increase of £700 million on the previous year’s takings. The latest statistics on house prices show that the upwards trajectory has not slowed with the average price of a UK home now £255,000, 11.2% higher than January 2020.

Now has never been a better time to understand Inheritance Tax and the implications it could have on your estate.

In our on demand online webinar titled ‘Don’t sleepwalk into the Inheritance Tax trap’, you will meet our host, Business Development Manager, David Melloy. He will be joined by another of our own, Independent Financial Adviser, Harry Beddoe, and Woodfines Solicitors, Jenny Teall and Zara Bracegirdle.

They will help you understand what IHT is and how you can put a plan in place now that will help to mitigate any liabilities your estate may have to pay in the future.

Topics this webinar will cover include:

  • What is IHT and what are thresholds?
  • Why and when does it need to be paid?
  • What is gifting and trusts and can they be used to help reduce IHT?
  • What is the nil rate band and residence nil rate band?
  • And crucially how you can mitigate the tax liability on your estate?
