Our sister company Avellemy are recruiting an Investment Manager to oversee their private wealth arm.

This position is a role to provide bespoke discretionary fund management (DFM) services. The candidate will report to the Head of Avellemy Private Wealth and assist the team across a variety of tasks.

The investment team is a small and cohesive unit with multiple responsibilities. The role therefore offers an excellent opportunity for the candidate to further develop and build on their complete set of investment management skills whilst working closely with all departments throughout the company.

Prime duties involve the day-to-day management, administration and monitoring of the bespoke DFM portfolios and ensuring daily ad hoc requests are dealt with in an efficient and professional manner. The aggregation of data to enable portfolio performance attribution analysis, investment solution report writing, fund due diligence and on-going reviews will be regular tasks, with punctual delivery and accuracy being essential.


  • Managing, monitoring, reviewing investment solutions to comply with clients’ risk grade/s.
  • Continued development of Investment systems and processes.
  • Fund research and quantitative analysis of various investment instruments.
  • Select appropriate investment solutions by the review of current product sets and house research, to build tailored and where appropriate scalable solutions for clients.
  • Ensure that appropriate due diligence has been undertaken on proposals and management of portfolios to reflect the clients’ investment profile.
  • Portfolio transaction administration and documentation.
  • Placing deals with fund groups, platforms, and brokers.
  • Generate new ideas to ensure optimal administrative efficiency.
  • Production of investment proposals, performance reports and analysis of client performance.
  • Investment commentary preparation and sign off.
  • Dealing with daily ad hoc enquiries from financial advisers and internal personnel, and handling complaints as appropriate.
  • Assist with monitoring requests.
  • Support role at events/seminars.

Responsibilities continued:

  • To construct, implement and monitor clients’ portfolios ensuring that the investment falls in line with company policy, asset allocation recommendation and tolerances.
  • To establish regular contact with our clients if they wish; whilst arranging and presenting the clients’ portfolios on at least an annual basis.
  • Ensuring FCA compliance in all aspects of investment department activities.
  • Responsible for identifying, escalating, and mitigating risks.
  • To contribute to an effective and positive risk management culture at the firm.
  • Ensure portfolios, where possible, are consistent for clients and follow the specified investment profile.
  • To ensure necessary client information is accurate for both the account take on process and ongoing.
  • Maintain appropriate level of ongoing continuous professional development (CPD) and minimum standards met within business area requirements.
  • To fulfil all level of compliance procedures to the highest standard.
  • To ensure all decisions uphold and demonstrate the highest standards of Treating Customer Fairly (“TCF”) and the Code of Business Sourcebooks (COBS).

  • To meet these demands the candidate is expected to have extensive financial services experience, including a minimum of 3 years investment management experience, be self-motivated, confident, comfortable under pressure, able and willing to present to large and small audiences alike and technologically competent.
  • You’ll be a creative person with good communication and writing skills, and importantly you will be a team player bringing value enhancing independent thoughts to the team and the process, whilst being happy to work without the need for constant supervision and direction.
