Reporting to the Head of Marketing, and working alongside the Brand and Communications Manager, you will be responsible for contributing to the development of an overarching Ascot Lloyd marketing strategy, shaping an operational marketing plan to budget and leading the delivery of it through a team of channel-focused marketing executives to time.

You will lead the development and delivery of a new client development marketing plan as part of our overall organic growth strategy, defining target markets and channel plans, setting lead targets by channel as well as budget to drive leads into the sales team.

You will be assessing marketing effectiveness on all operational marketing activities and reporting ROI, specifically on channel performance, cost per lead and cost per acquisition. You will be responsible for leading and motivating a team to be highly engaged, creative, and innovative and deliver results.

Whilst a Senior Manager within the business, this is a hands-on team management role where you will need to be involved in the day-to-day delivery of the plans and leading by example, to develop a relatively inexperienced and new team, alongside the other Senior Manager in the team.


  • Work with the HOM to help shape the marketing strategy based on evaluating prior marketing campaigns and activities and carrying out competitor and market review and analysis
  • Support and deliver customer research initiatives providing insight into marketing activity and campaigns
  • Support the budgeting exercise with detailed understanding of how budget would deliver
  • Set and manage an annual operational marketing plan across different channels setting KPIs for specific lead generation and retention activity
  • Manage the plan dynamically quarter by quarter to adapt to business needs
  • Carry out competitor analysis and market reviews to understand market challenges and opportunities and inform the marketing strategy and plan
  • Work with HOM, sales and BI to define client segments and targeting for existing client communications and campaign activity
  • Work with HOM, sales and BI to help shape new segmentation and targeting strategies to attract new clients
  • Manage the day-to-day priorities of the team and workload to ensure Marketing Executives are focused on the right initiatives and capacity is optimised across the team
  • Develop campaign strategies and creative ideas to appeal to prospective and existing clients in compelling and engaging ways bringing the brand to life

Responsibilities continued:

  • Work with the Digital Marketing Executive to maximise the potential of digital channels through marketing initiatives and drive client marketing opt-in and digital channel preference uplift
  • Evaluate all marketing activities and report on results demonstrating ROI on each campaign or event and on a monthly rolling basis showing incremental performanceMotivate and lead the team to ensure positive engagement and performance against their individual objectives and KPIsDay-to-day manage agency relationships ensuring partners are well briefed and budget is spent appropriately within limits to execute the marketing initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with the Communications Manager to shape a content marketing plan and define content deliverables to support the marketing campaigns and initiatives and PR initiatives as integrated part of the marketing plan
  • Work with the Communications Manager to raise awareness and understanding internally of the marketing initiatives and campaigns
  • Build supportive and collaborative relationships with Sales and Ops teams to ensure wide business input and understanding of marketing initiatives
  • Gain sales input into developing marketing initiatives to ensure buy-in and fit for purpose in supporting Adviser sales activity nationally and regionally
  • Work with the Communications Manager to maximise
  • Manage the delivery of NPS to test and understand client satisfaction at key points in the client journey
  • Manage the overall brand adherence and quality of all marketing output 

Experience & Core skills

  • At least 5 years’ broad general marketing experience in BtoB and BtoC markets
  • CIM or equivalent qualified
  • Direct and indirect marketing experience across all channels
  • Preferably financial services marketing experience if not complex service marketing
  • Experience working with a sales force
  • Marketing agency and supplier management experience
  • Budget management
  • Exceptional organisational and project management skills
  • Analytical skills and ability to develop reports and marketing MI
  • Copywriting skills with the ability to write engaging content and compelling communications
  • Creative thinker able to come up with fresh and innovative ideas
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams
