You may remember reading, in our February edition of Stay in Touch, about our involvement with The Queen’s Green Canopy, a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.
Whilst our focus here at Ascot Lloyd is on the financial wellbeing of our clients, we are also firmly committed to supporting environmental projects both locally and nationally. We are therefore delighted to be a Jubilee Partner of The Tree Council. Along with other like-minded companies, we have been playing our part in planting 35,000 trees and 7 kilometres of hedgerows in support of the Queen's Green Canopy initiative.
At the end of last year, some of our Ascot Lloyd colleagues and clients joined a group of 50 volunteers to help The Tree Council plant two new corridors in Bicester, Oxfordshire as part of National Tree Week. The trees, including Hawthorn, Blackthorn, and Oak, were planted along a riverbank and bridleway to help improve the habitat for local wildlife, mitigate pollution and help with flood prevention.
In support of The Queens Green Canopy initiative and together with our Jubliee partners and The Tree Council, we will begin tree planting again during National Tree Week, which marks the start of the winter tree planting season (December – March). This week-long national celebration of all things trees, co-ordinated by The Tree Council runs from Saturday 26 November – Sunday 4 December 2022.
We are also hoping to participate in ‘TreeLC’ day in July 2022, providing an opportunity to volunteer to look after newly planted trees as part of The Tree Council’s annual Tree Care Campaign which runs from the end of March until September each year. If you would like to join Ascot Lloyd staff on one of these tree planting or ‘TreeLC’ days please do let us know via your financial adviser, and we would be delighted to share further details closer to the time.
