Working as an IFA
What is life as an independent financial adviser like?
On a day to day basis you will be talking to clients about their finances and researching the most appropriate solutions that will help them to achieve their financial aspirations. You will build personal relationships with your clients, getting to know them on a first name basis and often learning a substantial amount about their families and social circles.
You will be responsible for keeping your clients well informed about the performance of their various financial solutions and adjusting their plans to account for any changes in their short, medium and long term objectives.
Whilst you will have a wealth of experience and knowledge of financial products, you’ll use your strong communication skills to break down complex and confusing terminology in to jargon free plain English that your clients can easily understand.
Personal development & learning
The world of financial services is fast changing and governed closely by bodies such as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). You’ll have to keep up to date with new products and law changes and ensure you comply with all regulations.
