Experienced industry professionals who understand customer service
Chief Executive Officer
After starting work as a pensions consultant, in the early eighties, Richard began his own IFA business in Central Oxford. The business grew through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions and over a period of thirteen years Richard decided to focus purely on managing the business rather than advising clients.
After selling his business in the late nineties, Richard became a founder and Managing Director of a market leading insurance internet business and amongst other things completed an air-time for equity transaction with Channel 5 which was the first of its kind in Europe. Following the sale of the internet company to a National IFA business Richard joined Marsh & Mclennan, one of the world’s largest advice and solution providers, as a consultant within the e-Business and product distribution team. During his time as a consultant, Richard formulated a plan for building an IFA business and when the opportunity presented itself he acquired the majority interest in a long established IFA firm with roots traceable to the 1930s. The firm was called GHM Financial Services Ltd and after the acquisition was completed in early 2004 the name was changed to Ascot Lloyd Financial Services Ltd, which has traded successfully from Wokingham since that time.
Richard is a keen sportsman and has represented Great Britain in the Sprint Triathlon event for the past seven years achieving 6th position in his age group at the World Championships in Vancouver in 2008 and 5th position in the European Championships in Israel in 2012 and this year completed his first Ironman distance event in Copenhagen in 11hrs.
Chief Financial Officer

Iain’s entire career has been focussed around Financial Services with exposure to Investment and Corporate Banking, Insurance and Wealth Management. Prior to joining St James Place Iain held Senior roles with BNP Paribas, AIG, Standard Chartered and Credit Suisse. He was also Finance Director of Corporate Banking for Lloyds Banking Group.
After a few years as a consultant with Sun Life Assurance, and then running the Financial Planning arm of an Insurance Broking firm in Rickmansworth, Pat become founder and Managing Director of the IFA firm, Professional Intermediary Services, in 1991. This business concentrated on dealing with client introductions from fellow professionals such as accountants and solicitors and grew significantly over the years. Pat adopted a simple yet innovative investment service that meant that all clients received professional investment advice without the need to continually change providers to ‘chase performance’ and this, together with a predominantly fee based structure, were major factors in the business’ growth and success.
In the mid 2000’s the business changed its name to Planitplus and in January 2010 Pat and Richard decided to merge their two businesses to benefit from the obvious synergies. Alongside his responsibilities as Managing Director, Pat also continued to advise clients until the middle of 2014 when he decided to ‘step down’ as an adviser in order to be able to devote all of his time and efforts to his duties as MD.
Pat and his wife live in Lane End, Buckinghamshire and have one grown up daughter. Outside of work Pat keeps active with running (completing the London Marathon in 2013 – the year not the number of hours taken!) plus gym visits and the occasional round of golf.
